Design Ideas

Helping you to choose and realise your perfect outdoor space

Design Ideas will help you to understand and be able to express in gardening terms what you and your family want your garden to be like. We will work through a Garden User Questionnaire that prompts you to think about the practicalities as well as words that describe the look and feel you want. It is important to get clear in your own mind up front whether your paradise needs to be ‘lush and exotic’ or ‘neat and restful’ or perhaps you want both!

We can discuss the different design needs of front and back gardens, how to use a garden to enhance the approach to your house or how to maximise a small space to accomodate parents’ entertaining, children’s castle/ship/tank play area, a desire to grow fruit and veg and the basic need for a beautiful garden all at the same time!

You may want to work on your whole garden or just a small part.  Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced gardener looking for new inspiration or change of use, the agenda for Design Ideas is set by you.  I use my knowledge and experience to guide and encourage; you make informed decisions about what and where you want.  At the same time you will learn about your garden, your soil, your plants and how to enjoy looking after the whole lot. (There is a very fuzzy line between design and coaching.)

At the end of each on-site session, we will agree what, if any, write-up work I will do and how long this will take (i.e. the cost). Right from the first hour’s discussion you will start to crystalise your requirements into a viable garden plan and sometimes this will be all the help that you need. For other projects you may decide on a series of visits interleaved with back-up work and I will be on-hand as often and as long as you want.
