The Plan Your Garden Program
A one-on-one coaching program designed to result in a plan specific to your needs and your garden that you can use with a contractor or to make the changes yourself. This program is not a garden design course, but you will learn a lot that will help you further improve current and future gardens.
Content
Four sessions in your garden covering:
- What you have
- Assessing the size and shape of the plot, soil type and condition, orientation, environment, constraints and existing features and plants
- What you want
- Understanding who uses the garden and what for, style, secondary uses: food, wildlife, what you need: shed, compost bin, greenhouse, play frame.
- Where to put it
- Combining the details of the site with your needs to create a workable layout
- What plants to choose
- Creating a planting list suitable for the style, needs, soil and environment of your garden
Each session lasts an hour for a small garden or an hour and a half for a larger one to cover the basic program outline.
At the end of each session there will be a bit of 'homework' to make brief notes on what has been discussed and build on these to think about the following topic. Don't Panic ~ once the mystery of garden planning is removed you will find it hard to stop thinking about your new garden!
Timing
Sessions are scheduled to suit you: the first three are recommended to be within a month; the Planting Plan can follow immediately or wait until any hard landscaping has been completed. This is a real benefit of working on your own garden plan. It is much easier to envisage trees, shrubs and plants growing in a space once hard landscaping is complete and the acutal beds and borders prepared.
