Planting scheme

The border is viewed all year round from the house and so requires a long flowering season and some interest from colour and structure in the winter. The owners wanted colours that are soft without being overwhelmingly pale.

There is a mix of deciduous and evergreen shrubs and climbers and a small number of herbaceous perennials to give flowers from February through to the end of the summer and colour in winter. All plants are widely available and require no special treatment.
