I am here to help if you feel that your garden "could do better" but you lack the knowledge or practical experience to tackle it alone.  A Gardening by Design visit can supply design ideas, maintenance advice and a realistic plan whether you have a blank canvas, changing needs or a garden of established but unidentified plants.

As you talk me round the garden we will discuss what you have, what you want, what styles you do or do not like and how much time you will spend gardening.  I will explain the practical impact of soil type, orientation and surroundings and help you to identify plants and decide what to keep, what to prune and what to remove.  If you want a redesign (partial or complete) then I will measure up and take digital photographs.

The agenda is all yours and visits can last as long as you like, but usually start with an hour for a small garden and one and a half to two hours for a larger garden. We will always discuss your requirement before a visit is scheduled and agree on the duration. It is generally better to have several shorter visits if you have a particularly challenging garden than one mega-session (recovery time for you and the garden!) and the cost is the same.

Afterwards

I am very happy to write up the results of our discussion, supply plant cultivation informatio, an outline design plan or a plant list.  Follow-up work that I do at home will always be agreed in advance and the report will be sent to you preferably by email.

Fees

An hourly rate of £30 is charged both for visits within the Tunbridge Wells & Sevenoaks area and for follow-up work that I do at home.  You can get together with a few friends and share the cost.  If you live further afield, I may need to add a little to the on-site visit fee for petrol and travelling time.  Please contact me to discuss.
